My vision for a thriving Saskatoon economy is rooted in collaboration and mutual benefit. Strengthening partnerships through our regional Plan for Growth and introducing a new approach to streamline investment, will boost Saskatoon’s competitive edge, attracting more businesses and manufacturing to our city, while also supporting existing businesses.
With our partners at Saskatoon Regional Economic Development Authority and Discover Saskatoon, I’ll work with business organizations, Indigenous leadership and newcomers to build a Saskatoon economy that creates more jobs and opportunity for everyone.
As Councillor, I have supported:
- The lowest business tax ratio in the country
- Cut the Red Tape initiative (downtown)
- City Centre Plan—Mixed-use development and amenities
- Bus Rapid Transit (LINK)
- Plan for Growth (P4G) - regional partners help to expand market
- The most urban reserves in the country (eleven)
I’m committed to supporting businesses across the city by improving communication during construction projects and establishing a business roundtable to explore shared goals. I’ll build on initiatives that streamline services and make it easier for business owners to focus on what matters most. To attract more investment, I’ll advocate for Saskatoon, strengthen partnerships, and support opportunities for Indigenous economic growth.
My Plan
Streamline Services
- Create a Business Connection Hub, which will act as a concierge service to assist businesses in navigating regulatory and permitting processes, making it easier and faster to invest in our city for both new and existing businesses
- Accelerate permitting and licensing
Support Local Business
- Introduce a small business tax subclass
- Collaborate to create business district safety plans
- More support/communication during construction projects
Attract Investment
- Champion Saskatoon, by telling our story wherever I go, and participating in trade missions when they provide good value for taxpayers
- Establish a land development process that includes building relationships with Indigenous economic development agencies
- Work with the Saskatoon Regional Economic Development Authority (SREDA) and Discover Saskatoon to enhance business opportunities
- Create incentives for mixed use development along LINK Bus Rapid Transit routes.
Enhance Infrastructure
- Ensure roads, sidewalks and parks are well-maintained
- Move forward with the City Centre Plan, to create a welcoming place to live, work, play and invest
- Support the creation of grocery stores in under-served areas
