“As your mayor, I’ll make sure Police have the resources they need to target crime, and I’ll champion new tools to support the safety of Transit riders and operators. But building a safe city needs more than policing.” Block said.

“My plan is a whole city approach, and it needs to be built from the ground up -  - from basic infrastructure and services to better connection to safety resources.”

Block’s plan includes working with residents and businesses to create neighbourhood and district safety plans, to improve communication, coordinate resources and stop crime before it happens.

Block also acknowledges the important role community space plays in keeping our city safe, and is calling for a 24/7 drop-in centre for youth. “Like basketball courts and ice rinks, it’s a place to grow up, build connection, and a sense of belonging - especially when home isn’t safe,” she said. Block also committed to continue seeking new targeted programs to steer our youth away from crime and continue investing in well-maintained parks and community spaces.

“Community problems need community solutions. My plan will go alongside the work of Police and Fire, with a whole community approach to creating a safe and welcoming city for everyone.”

Cynthia Block’s commitment has earned the support of several community leaders and organizations.

“As a long-time citizen of Saskatoon and the former Chair of the Saskatoon Board of Police Commissioners, I am in support of Cynthia Block's Safe City policy.” said Darlene Brander, a City of Saskatoon resident. “It is important for citizens from all corners of this city to know that community safety is always a top priority. Cynthia's plan addresses community safety in a way that includes the voices of community members and strategies that serve all City of Saskatoon citizens.”

As I run for mayor, I want to recognize that we are on Treaty 6 Territory, the traditional land of the Cree, Saulteaux, Dene, Dakota, Lakota, Nakota, and the Métis Nation.

Living and working here is a privilege, and I acknowledge the deep history and contributions of the Indigenous peoples who have cared for this land long before it became Saskatoon.

In my campaign and beyond, I’m committed to respecting our shared history and working together to build a city where everyone’s voice matters.
