While we've made record investments in roads, sidewalks, police, and fire services, we need to do more. True progress means ensuring everyone has a home, feels safe in their neighborhoods, and enjoys an affordable quality of life in Saskatoon.
Homelessness is a global crisis, and it's an emergency in Saskatoon. Despite the hard work of many, we need a fresh approach.
I advocate for a Task Force on Homelessness and Community Safety to enhance coordination and public accountability, bringing residents and experts together to find sustainable solutions. I also support adopting a Housing First model because everyone deserves a roof over their head.
Modernizing our infrastructure, transportation, and technology is crucial for our growth and efficiency. We will embrace innovation to build a more connected and advanced Saskatoon. This includes proactive measures to combat climate change by reducing our carbon footprint and investing in green technologies and sustainable practices.
Reconciliation isn’t just about relationships—it’s about taking action. I’ve worked hard to create opportunities for Indigenous people, resulting in 9 urban reserves in Saskatoon, the most in Canada. But there’s still more to do. I’m committed to supporting Indigenous youth and will seek guidance from Indigenous leaders to move forward together. With nearly 30,000 new residents, it’s essential we continue partnering with newcomer agencies and embrace Indigenous perspectives. By working together, we can build a Saskatoon where everyone feels welcome and can thrive.
Financial sustainability requires long-term planning and smart investments. I support Bus Rapid Transit, a new central library, and an entertainment district—projects that boost downtown density, expand the tax base, and attract investment. Investing in our downtown is essential for attracting talent, jobs, housing, and tourism while keeping taxes low.
